I’m a freelance audio producer & journalist based in Cape Town.

I make audio documentaries on a range of subjects, but with a focus on memory and violence in South Africa – both personal and political. I also write about and produce features on contemporary South African art and artists.

Time, Paper, Bone - made with Bongani Kona - is my most recent feature, an hour-long radio documentary made for BBC Radio 4’s Archive on 4, about one woman’s lifelong quest for closure, and South Africa’s reckoning with the injustices of the past. (Read more about the story here.)

Other recent works include Robben Island’s Hallelujah, about Handel’s famous chorus performed by a choir of political prisoners in the brutal apartheid prison (a pick of the week in the UK’s Radio Times), and a musical portrait, Einstein Fix, made for BBC Radio 3 in collaboration with Einstein Mupalu and musician John Withers (reviewed by the Mail & Guardian).
